Children's Dentistry

At Stonehouse Dental Care, our dental professionals are trained to look after the oral health needs of the whole family.

We enjoy supporting families and young children on their dental journey from early childhood into adulthood, and aim to give them the best possible experiences to develop healthy lifelong habits.

For parents, we would advise you to register your child soon after birth and to arrange their 1st check-up at approximately 6 months-old or when their 1st tooth erupts.

Our practice strongly believes in a prevention-based approach to children’s oral health and as such we fully support The Childsmile Practice programme.

What is Childsmile?

Childsmile is the Scottish Government’s public health initiative to improve the oral health of all children in Scotland.

A Childsmile practice will deliver a programme of care suited to the needs of each individual child.

This includes:

  • Oral health advice to parents. (e.g. weaning, diet, teething).
  • Toothbrushing instruction.
  • Information on tooth development timelines.
  • Regular dental check-ups.
  • Dental treatment where necessary.
  • Twice yearly fluoride varnish application for children between the ages of 2 and 5 years old.
